Lauren Weisberger, author of The Devil Wears Prada has confirmed that she is planning a sequel to the 2003 best-seller.
Lauren Weisberger has announced that she is set to publish Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns in April 2013 a decade after the first novel was released.
Weisberger’s book The Devil Wears Prada was the inspiration for the 2006 film which starred Meryl Streep as Miranda Priestly, the almighty editor-in-chief of the fictional fashion magazine Runway. The character is rumoured to be based on US Vogue editor Anna Wintour. Weisberger was a one-time second assistant to Wintour at US Vogue .. which leads us to believe these rumours are more than likely true. Anne Hathaway also played her downtrodden assistant, Andrea ‘Andy’ Sachs in the film.
The sequel is rumoured to revisit the character of Andrea, eight years on from her soul-destroying, life-altering Runway experience. She’s also just landed the job as editor of The Plunge , America’s biggest bridal magazine.
The story will see Andy working alongside Emily – her former nemesis at Runway. The pair become great friends whilst planning her own wedding to Max, a media powerhouse. The title hints that an appearance from Miranda Priestly is on the cards ..
So far there has been no official news on a possible movie sequel (boo!) but we can imagine there will be a high demand for it in Hollywood! The last film featured cameos from the likes of Gisele Bundchen, Heidi Klum and Valentino .. We want a sequel just so we can celeb spot! Perhaps new girl on the block Charlotte Free could make a cameo? Or the legend himself Christian Louboutin?
