Nina Ricci has launched a gorgeous new bag!
The bag is named The ‘La Rue’ (nothing to do with the singer La Roux) is inspired by the streets of Paris and will land in stores next September.
Artistic Director Peter Copping unveiled the bag yesterday (27th June).
He talked about the bag at it’s launch saying:
The It-bag is finished, but it was an idea everyone was obsessed with a long time. There has to be a sense of functionality, as well as a beautiful look to any popular handbag. Sometimes, women just go mad for a bag and you can’t understand why and you can’t predict it. You just have to hope!
The beautiful bag has ruched detailing and a powder pink lining. You can get the bag in different colours including Lilac (see image below)
It’s feminine and classic- everything we expect from Nina Ricci!
It’s very important how you offset things – the work I do could quickly become saccharine. I try to inject a little tension into our advertising campaigns so that, although the product still looks sophisticated, it isn’t too overtly pretty. It’s the way I construct clothes that offsets it and the way I put things together that gives it something different. But customers like consistency – they come back to us season after season because they know they’ll still be able to buy that type of dress. That’s important.
Copping said- the Artistic Director takes a lot of pride in his work.
There isn’t just one person, but we do work with Clemence Poesy a lot,” said Copping. “She’s a really nice person, very clued-up and intelligent. And she’s beautiful. She made fabrics that were cheap to buy look really high-end. I admire that,” he said. “Today though, I really like Meadham Kirchhoff. They’re really out there and they give a shit. I like the way when they take their bow at the end of their show, you can just tell that they really don’t want to be there.
Copping worked at Louis Vuitton before being made Nina Ricci Artistic Director back in 2009.
