It’s every girls dream for a fairy tale ending. Like Snow White, Sleeping Beauty and Belle, we all long for our prince charming to whisk us away. Now with the help of Disney and French footwear designer Christian Louboutin, we can live out our princess fantasy.
Walt Disney’s classic Cinderella is set to be released on Blu-Ray this autumn. To celebrate the occasion, Louboutin is currently designing his very own glass slipper. The designer recently spoke of his excitement for the project.
“I have been so lucky to have crossed paths with Cinderella, an icon who is so emblematic to the shoe world as well as the dream world.”
Louboutin has created some beautiful, sparkling heels in the past which have catered more to the modern day wannabe princess. We imagine his latest construction will be fit for the Royal family.
It won’t be the first time an international designer has attempted to re-create the infamous shoe. We are eager to see how Louboutin’s design will differ from Marc Jacob’s pumps which can be purchased on http://www.lagarconne.com for $595.
The transparent pump is Jacob’s interpretation of a fairy tale slipper. Made of PVC and leather, unlike the Disney originals the shoes are shatter proof. They sport a round toe and a 4 inch stiletto heel; they are comfortable and easy to walk in. The colourless pumps make a great statement shoe and team up well with any outfit. These Italian made beauties set a high standard in glass slippers, we wonder if Louboutin’s version will boast his trade mark red sole.
Other famous designers have also attempted to put their stamp on the fairy tale shoe. This seasons catwalk saw both Oscar de la Renta and Miu Miu, present their own princess pumps but neither capture the same similarities to the Cinderella film that Marc Jacob’s does. In fact, the heels suited the golden dress worn by Belle in Beauty and the Beast, rather than Cinderella.
Dominican born Oscar de la Renta is no stranger to creating fashion pieces for royalty. Princess Madeleine of Sweden is a big fan of his work and is often seen wearing his pieces. Miu Miu, a brand created under the roof of the Prada fashion house recently made 15 year old True Grit actress Hailee Steinfield their spokes model. The actress also starred in the drama ‘Heather: A fairy tale’ back in 2008, Steinfield’s poise and grace at such a young age give her a regal quality. Perhaps this characteristic is what attracted them to making her the new face of the brand.
