As we all know King Lagerfeld has a very unique way of dishing out comments about people, even his compliments have a side order of venom, remember the comments about Adele and how she was too fat, that according to the Chanel designer was actually taken out of context and was in fact meant to be a compliment?
Or what about what he had to say about poor Pippa Middleton?
We finally know the cause for Lagerfelds toxic tongue……his mother!
In a recent interview Lagerfeld explained that his mother was not afraid to give him blunt fashion advice, He said:
“I love hats in a way, but when I was a child, I’d wear Tyrolean hats, and my mother – I was something like eight – said to me: ‘You shouldn’t wear hats. You Look like an old dyke,….Do you say such things to children? She was quite funny, no?”
So there you have it, Lagerfeld is only a glorified bully because it’s what he was taught…yeah right!
On the other hand the Channel designer’s father was very supportive of his son’s unique style whether it is good or bad;
“I remember one time in winter 1959, – it was beyond cold, and I went to see my father at the George V with only a suit on, He said to me: ‘But you will die! You will get pneumonia?’ and I said: ‘I prefer to die that to wear another coat that the robe style in blue cashmere in the Dorian Gray window. If not that one, I prefer to freeze.’ So he bought the coat.” – Oh so he was a diva from an early age, that explains a lot.
Obviously we don’t condone Lagerfeld’s behaviour however at least now we understand why he is how he is!
