Betty Boop has been an international style icon for many years, bringing her own unique Boop-Oop-a-Doop to fans the world over with her dramatic smoky
eyes and fun, flirtatious, manner.

Like all true celebrities Betty has her own fragrance range and designer clothing lines with high end scarves from Alexia Fashions that  and now Lancôme have signed her as the face of their new mascara, Hypnôse Star.

Since then, she has been travelling the world and promoting the product which launched in Selfridges London before heading to Europe and
finally back to Betty’s home country of America. Today she is on thelondonlook.com taking to me about her news and giving away some top tips in style and glamour.

Q. Why work with Lancome?

A. Lancome is a world-class company that epitomizes beauty and glamour – a perfect match for my talents!

Q. You made a short film with top model Daria Werbowy, and showed her ”how to say it with her eyes;” what does this mean?

A. It means that the eyes have it! Boop-Oop-a-Doop! They say the eyes are the windows into who you really are. That’s why they are a woman’s most attractive feature. That’s why I showed Daria my secret in the film – so she could make the most of her beautiful eyes, just like I always do!

Q. Who is your style icon?

A.I don’t have any one that I follow. I believe EVERY woman has her own personal style. For me, it’s  less about what clothes you wear (although I confess, my uncle Max Fleischer invented the little black dress just for me!) and all about what you think and feel — about yourself and the world around you.

Q. What is the secret of your success?

Having confidence in myself. Ever since I popped out of my Uncle Max Fleischer’s inkwell, I’ve known I was special. I had a certain something, a je ne sais Boop. In one of my films, I even told my fans that “a woman can do anything a man can do!”

Q. Do you ever leave home without make up?

A. Never. You don’t know who you’re going to meet. Even if it’s as simple as applying my mascara and a little lipstick (people love my pouty lips), I always want to look my best!

Q. What one product can you not live without?

A. Ooohhh!!! Definitely the new Lancome Hypnose Star mascara! It’s magical!

Q. I can never seem to get my eyes quite right, what tips do you have for fab lashes?

A. Here are my three faves for applying mascara:

1)    When choosing a mascara, decide on the formula you want (lengthening, thickening, waterproof or non-clumping).

2)    To avoid clumping, move your wand in a zig-zag motion to separate the lashes as you go. And be sure to apply your second (or third) coat of mascara before the first coat dries.

3)    Don’t blink for at least 5 seconds after you’re finished with the application! Otherwise, you might discover that you have mascara dots all along your eyelid.

Q. You do a lot of travelling, where is your favourite city?

A. I’d have to say it’s gay Paree, because it’s the city of love and I just wanna be loved by you. (And nobody else but you.)

Q. Have you ever met Miss Piggy?

A. No, I haven’t but I’d love to tell her, “Vous-êtes quite la diva yourself, Mademoiselle Piggy!”
